Rules/Regulations

Ultimate High School Fishing is a non-profit organization. We strive to connect men and women of all ages to the thrill of tournament fishing while establishing values, integrity, and relationships throughout this tournament trail.


Club Meetings and Tournaments

Monthly meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month through September. The rest of the year tournament info will be via web site and Facebook.

Tournaments are held on the 4th Saturday except November. Pines Sep 23rd, Wright Patman Oct 28th, Toledo Bend South Dec 2nd, Bob Sandlin Jan 27th, Lake Tyler Feb 24th, Toledo Bend South March 30th, Sam Rayburn April 27th.

Tournament waters will be off limits the week of tournament starting on Monday the week of the tournament. The official practice day of the tournament will be the Friday of the tournament.

Tournaments are on Saturday only.

Tournaments will be in a Team format.

Partner swapping is strictly prohibited. You are locked with your partner beginning with the first qualifying tournament of the year.

Teams may be represented by just one team angler.

If a Team entered as a solo team and wishes to add a co-angler that is a new member and has not fished with us in any tournaments for the current year, this may be acceptable with approval of the Board.

If a Team entered the season with (2) teams anglers, and (1) of the anglers quit for any reason, the team will finish the year with (1) angler representing the team.

Tournament Hours are from 6:30am till 2:00pm.

Weigh In starts at 2:15pm on qualifying tournaments.

Absolutely NO early weigh ins.

Team MUST be checked in with Tournament check person (in the green or orange vest), by 2:45pm. Any team arriving after 2:45pm time will be disqualified. Please allow yourselves time for the unexpected.

The 3rd weekend of April will be designated as our bad weather tournament makeup date for the year, based on the availability of a ramp and venue. If there are no venues available for the missed tournament, it will be omitted for the year.

Membership and Entry Fees

Membership/ Jersey fee is $125.00 annually.

Tournament entry fees are $40.00 p/team per tournament.

Anglers must have passing grades to participate in a qualifying tournament.

Grades must be in by midnight on the Tuesday prior to the tournament.

All progress reports or report cards must be school generated. (NO PARENT PORTALS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!

Prize packages will be awarded to winning anglers.

Door prizes will be awarded to all anglers who are present at the weigh ins of qualifying tournaments as long as the weather permits.

As a member of our tournament trail, any angler or boat captain is subject to a polygraph at any time the BOD deems necessary.

Boat Captains

No professional anglers i.e. bass lake guides that have guided on the tournament lake within the last 2 years of tournament date, or an angler paying an entry fee on any circuit in the amount of $1500.00 or more are not eligible to be a boat captain during tournament.

The one and only exception to the rules above is, if the boat captain is a dad or mom of one of the anglers fishing, they are eligible to boat captain their kids.

Boat Captains may enter a (1) fish side pot for $10.00. Winner takes all. (Fish MUST be kept totally separate from the anglers' fish at All times).

At the Classic Tournament, UHSF will match the boat captain pot entries, dollar for dollar.

Boat Captains may only have one fish in the live well at any time. They must cull immediately.

If at any time a Boat Captain is caught cheating in any way, they will be banned for a period of one year for the first offense and will be banned for life if more than one offense.

Tournament Regulations

Student anglers may operate combustible engine only during loading and unloading of the boat unless there is a medical emergency in which the boat captain is impaired or not able to safely operate the boat back to safety.

All state, federal, and local laws, rules, and regulations must be obeyed. Any deviance from this rule is grounds for disqualification.

All fish must be caught with artificial bait.

Trolling is prohibited with the big motor.

Hole sitting is grounds for disqualification.

At no time may an angler ride or stand in a front or back pedestal seat when the boat is on plane. Anyone caught doing this will be disqualified from the tournament.

Boat Regulations

Boats must have emergency engine cut off device.

Boats must meet all Texas Parks & Wildlife Regulations. Life vest must be worn when combustible engine is running.

Live wells must be functional and the utmost of care provided for the wellbeing of all fish caught.

Any unsafe action brought to the Board of Directors attention will be discussed and may be grounds for disqualification.

Fishing Regulation

Five (5) fish per team limit for qualifying tournaments, unless otherwise stipulated different by the Board.

14” minimum length (except on slot lakes) including Kentucky bass.

Only largemouth and Kentucky spotted bass qualify.

Culling must occur on the 6th fish caught.

Anglers can never have over 5 fish in the angler’s live well.

Absolutely NO culling of a dead fish.

Teams must be represented at the weigh in by a team member at qualifying tournaments. (Not a Boat Captain).

Any team caught manipulating or cheating in any manner will be disqualified and subject to further consequence per decision of the B.O.D.

Tournament Protest

All decisions by the Board of Directors pertaining to UHSF are final.

Protest must be presented to a board member in writing within 15 minutes after the weigh in is concluded. (Pictures/ Video’s help support any protest out on the water.)

Points and Rankings for Yearly Standings

For qualifying tournaments and in order to rank anglers for the year, weights will be transferred to a point system beginning with the heaviest weight for the tournament receiving 300 points and descending by weight and points accordingly through the smallest weight of the tournament.

Anglers who fished the tournament but did not weigh in any fish will all receive participation points of 10 points less than the smallest weigh in points for that tournament.

All teams will receive 5 bonus points for the tournament if both members are wearing the UHSF jersey at check in and during their weigh in.

Tie Breakers

Ties in weight will receive the same points for qualifying tournaments.

In the event of a Big Bass Tie, both anglers will receive whatever applicable cash or trophies for that particular tournament.

If 2 or more teams are tied with points for 1 st place after the last qualifying tournament, the year’s total weights for the qualifying tournaments for these teams will be reviewed and calculated. The team with the most weight for the qualifying tournaments will be the Angler of the Year Team. In the wild event that the points, and yearly weights are tied for all qualifying tournaments, a coin flip will determine the Angler of the Year.

Penalties

Mandatory courtesy checks will be enforced

Dead Fish will result in a .25# p/dead fish deduction.

Any fish that does not meet the 14” requirement will in the loss of the short fish as well as the removal and loss of the largest fish in the angler’s bag. 

Championship Eligibility

Team must fish 5 of the 7 qualifying tournaments ( except for the wild card picks )

Team must be a member in good standings.

Teams must be vested in order to be eligible to fish the Classic.

Championship Qualifications

Tournament winners automatically qualify.

Top 30 teams in the YTD point standings.

Five (5) wildcard teams determined by the board.

Team raising the most amount of sponsorship donations for the year.

Teams cannot double qualify.

Scholarship Eligibility

Scholarships are eligible to High School Students only. (Grades 9-12).

In order for a High School student to be eligible for a scholarship, the school they are representing must be vested meaning the school has to have raised a minimum of $250.00 sponsorship money per High School student for their respective school.

Scholarships will be made payable to the institution that you have enrolled with.

Scholarship money will be held for a period of two year after the student has graduated.

After that year, the money will be returned to UHSF.

Vestments

Schools must be vested by Dec 31 st . of 2022 in order to be eligible for scholarships, classic participation, etc.

In order to be vested, every school must have provided a minimum of 250.00 in sponsorships for every High School angler. This does not apply to Junior High Anglers since they are not eligible to win any scholarships until they are in High School.

Championship Lake

The lake will be drawn by the Board from the lakes fished for that season.

Classic Lake is off limits for the week of the tournament beginning at midnight on the Sunday prior to the week of the tournament.

Grounds for Membership Termination

Use of profanity, foul language, cussing, swearing, fits, etc. by any angler, parent, boat captain, or member.

The use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs by any High School Angler during tournament or meeting hours.

UHSF Facebook page belongs to UHSF. It is for positive support for the anglers, this club, etc. It is where we post recognitions, information, changes, and instructions.

Any questions, concerns, complaints, can be handled by contacting any board member by phone. (Our numbers are all available).

Anything negative, or detrimental comments towards any angler member, parent, or Board of Directors could be grounds for membership termination with NO refund.

Rulings

Any addendums, etc. through the year will be discussed, voted on by the Board of Directors, and become final.
